The National Service Scheme of T. K. Madhava Memorial College conducted agri - tech Workshop "വീട്ടുപച്ച" (Veettupacha )
The workshop was organized with the intention of creating awareness regarding the recent innovations in the field of agriculture among the volunteers.
Sindhu Bhaskar, Leading Researcher in All India based Project on Farm Implementations and Machinery and Assistant Professor in the Kelappaji College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Thavanur & Dr Deepa Thomas from KAU Rice Research Station, Ernakulam efficiently handled the sessions.
The first session was handled by
Dr. Deepa Thomas. She dealt with home farming practices and their maintenance. The class was very informative and intresting one & extensively covered different aspects of t home gardening, soil preparation, vegetation and various methods of controlling worms.
In the second half of the workshop, Ms. Sindhu Bhaskar introduced small modern machines suitable for home farming to the students and explained how to use them to make farming profitable.
Along with the students, their parents and teachers also participated in the workshop.
College Principal Dr. Vinod Haridas presided over the function. NSS Program Officers. assi.prof. Preetha. M. V (History) welcomed & assi.prof. Akhil. B. S (Commerce) delivered gratitude. Team Leaders along with NSS Volunteer Leaders S Ayana, N. Nihal Mohammad and Athira Mohan worked hard for the success of the event.
In the afternoon, online activities against child labor were conducted. Posters and video presentations were made on this year's theme, "Work Now, Stop Child Labor".
