On Job Training Course on “Post Harvesting Fisheries Technology and Value Added Fishery Products” at National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training ( NIFPHATT), Ernakulam, on 19/12/2022 - 23/12/2022.
The second year students (24 Students) of Department of Zoology had undergone a one week internship training program as a part of their Add on Course “Value Added Fish Products”at NIFPHATT.The training started on 19/12/22 at 10 am. with an orientation program to the students, to get an awareness about the institute and its activities. The students were given different theoretical classes on post harvest fisheries technology and its handling and quality procedures.They were also given Hands on Training on Value Added Fish Products. Students prepared various fisheries products that can be marketed. They include fish cutlet, fish wafers, fish mince,fish fillets etc.
The microbiology labs were interesting and provided students with immense knowledge about how important it is to have a clean, safe and hygienic practice while processing food products. Students also got chance to see modern machine that can enhance the production of food products in large scale. At the end of internship on 23/12/2022, the students were provided with an On Job Course Certificate and a wider perspective on how advanced and promising the food industries are.
Mr. Kamal Raj, Officer in Charge NIFPHATT, was the programme coordinator. Dr Jasmine Anand, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology accompanied the students.
