Snehagadha

College National Service Scheme extends helping hand to the needy and the destitute. 'Sneha Gadha', our palliative project , which started working since the last  one year is becoming a model in palliative initiatives. Meanwhile the has unit provided food kits, wheelchairs, medicines, textiles, bed sheets and other essential items and financial assistance to needy families in Chepad, Kattachira, Pathiyoor, Cheruthana, Kayamkulam and the adopted village of Palipad.

The list for help was selected out of the
Health surveys conducted among more than 100 households.The volunteers also surveyed  the families near to their house, this enabled the volunteers  to learn more about their surroundings, have better idea of the  activities of Asha workers and the primary health care sector prevailing. For the past one and a half years, the unit has been at the forefront of providing essential assistance through the 'Sparsham' project for cancer patients and others who were seriously ill.

In  Pallipad, (which was the adopted village, provided assistance to eight families) Sneha Gadha in  pallipad started by giving a wheelchair to  Rahul, who was badly injured his  in bike accident.  Smt. Ajitha Aravind,  panchayat president Ward Member Rachel L, Mr. Mohan Attupuram, Asha workar and local people were present at the function  held at Pallipad Gandhi Memorial Panchayat Hall.

Also one Wheel chair  provided to a girl with special disability. The unit has already been able to help a total of 21 families. Principal Dr. PP Sharmila, Program Officer Preetha MV, NSS volunteers Sooraj, Lakshmi, Atulya, Charukesh K Priyesh, Devi Krishna, Prabhav, Rijin Reji, Sibin, Anjali and Amitabh were  leading the palliative programmes.
