A seminar on INTERDISCIPLINARY BRIDGING SESSION ON 'JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN LIFE SCIENCE' was organized by Zoology department in association with NIMS Center of Genomic Medicine, Thiruvananthapuram to impart a wider perspective on the job opportunities available to life science students.
The session started with invocation followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sheela S. (HOD Zoology Dept.). The session was chaired by our Principal Dr.P. P. Sharmila. The resource person was Dr. Aneesh Nair (Principal Scientist and Head NIMS, Centre For Genomic Medicine). In his talk, he stressed on multiple ranges of courses in Life Sciences. It also made students aware of many private as well as government supported research centers, which can enhance their research abilities. The session also discussed dos and don’ts while applying for a job. The talk concluded by giving useful tips to the students for acquiring their higher studies and to get more involved in the research field.
It was an interesting session throughout, Dr.Aneesh Nair was able to connect with the audience in a marvelous way. The students also found it very informative since a lot of guidance was given to them on how to pursue a successful career being a zoologist or a Life science student.
The event had the cordial presence of teachers from different departments including the whole zoology dept. A total of 85 people attended the session including the staff. Finally it ended with a vote of thanks from Dr.Jasmine Anand (Assistant Professor, Dept.of Zoology).
